Since its establishment in March, 1953, the Department of English Language and Literature has offered master's and doctoral degree in the areas of English Language and English Literature.
The Department has expanded its programs to encompass English Education for master's and dotoral degrees from the Fall
semester of 2005. Degree candidates of the Department are trained to understand and analyze English literature, English linguistics, and English education.
Those who concentrate on English education are trained to analyze and apply theories of the field to English education, to be equipped with broad understanding of
humanistic values including those of English linguistics and literature.
